Disadvantages of Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a safe treatment but, as a rule, some temporary side effects are possible, including darker or lighter marks, especially in dark skin and tanned skins. There is no risk of burn if the device is correctly tuned to the skin colour.

1. More difficult and less effective on darker or tanned skin
2. Less effective on lighter or unpigmented hair
3. Some patients may experience hair regrowth that is usually finer and lighter in color
4. The treatment involves a series of impulses leading to a feeling of prickling and slight burn.
5. Possible side effects, though very rare, may include damage to the surrounding healthy tissue in the form of scars, burns, redness and swelling
6. Long-term data on safety and effectiveness have not been accurately established.
7. It can be expensive
8. Requires multiple treatments over a period of months
9. Regulations differ state by state so selecting qualified practitioner can be challenging
