Laser hair removal is being used to treat symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome
Janet, a manager in the education sector, believes she suffered from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which is triggered by hormonal imbalances and causes ovarian cysts. Other symptoms include facial and body hair, acne, irregular or no periods, reduced fertility and weight problems.
Janet was one of 88 women who took part in the first laser treatment trials at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead in 2002 to combat her facial hair.
